Museum The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust intends the full restoration of all surviving buildings of the Jackfield Tile Museum, Shropshire TF8 7AW. The Museum occupies the remains of the Craven Dunnill Encaustic & Decorative tileworks built between 1871 and 1874. The remains are almost complete except the four bottle kilns which were demolished years ago. If the Ironbridge Museum is successful in securing the money, the long-term preservation of this unique site will be assured.

Restoration of the ‘rosace’, a major work of Paul Charnoz that was shown at the International exhibition of Paris in 1900. This pavement of 12,5 meter diameter, consisting of stoneware tiles 17,5 x 17,5 cm with inlaid coloured design, will be revealed to the public at its centenary in 2000. Article BIESBOER, Pieter - 'Een onbekende ruiter' (an unknown horseman), in: Tableau, vol. 21/2, November 1998, pp.51-54. Four tiles, depicting a horseman, were found in the cellar of a 17th c. house on the Burgwal in Haarlem. Several elements lead to the conclusion that Hans Barnaertsz. Vierleger, who worked in Haarlem in the early 17th C., was most probably the maker.

Museum collection The extensive collection of Dutch tiles in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19101-7646) is on permanent display on the 1st floor. This includes the 400-tile scene, the "Battle of Ramillies" made in Rotterdam ca. 1800. Many more early 18th c. Dutch tiles grouped by subject are displayed on the North Stairwell.
