In een eerste hoofdstuk schetst de auteur het ontstaan van de tegelproductie en het gebruik ervan in de geschiedenis. Nadien bekijkt hij de productie en de verschillende middeleeuwse vondsten in de provincie Antwerpen. Kleurenpracht van eigen bodem staat centraal in een hoofdstuk gewijd aan de Antwerpse majolicategels. De onderzoeker illustreert duidelijk het belang van de Vlaamse export maar ook de kennisvlucht die aan de basis ligt van vele internationale productiecentra in Italië en Portugal.
Ook de productie van aardewerkvloertegels voor de gewone man komt aan bod. Die tegels kenden dermate succes dat eind 18de eeuw niet minder dan 16 miljoen tegels in de Boomse regio's de houtovens verlieten. Later gaat de auteur dieper in op de aanwezigheid van decoratieve tegels in de 19de en begin 20ste eeuw. Ook de productie komt ruimschoots aan bod met extra aandacht voor de Gilliotfabriek en het kleine maar unieke Roelantsmuseum in Hemiksem. Het boek is een uniek eerbetoon aan een van de minst bekende erfgoedschatten uit de provincie Antwerpen.

The rooms of European ceramics reopened at the Art and History Royal Museum in Brussels
After four years of renovation works, the large room of ceramics finally opened to the public. It gives a chronological and technical glimpse of European ceramics from the XVth century to now. A special attention is given to main works such as the prestigious collection of Delft earthenware from the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries, legated in 1911 by Albert Evenepoel, or the marvellous chinas from Tournai, masterpiece of the XVIIIth and XIXth centuries completed by chinas from abroad, from Germany and France. European earthenwares, Belgian earthenwares, earthenwares from Luxembourg and stoneware are also exhibited. The visitor will discover a room freshly refurbished by the Régie des Bâtiments, dedicated to Art Nouveau, Art Déco ceramics and creations from the second half of the XXth century.
Restauratieproject - Eerherstel voor Delftse tegels - Unieke collectie 30 jaar aan lot overgelaten.
Er is eindelijk een restauratiedossier klaar voor de waardevolle tegels in de keuken van het Oud-Gasthuis in Asse. De tegels in het gewezen keukentje op het gelijkvloers van het Oud-Gasthuis aan het Gemeenteplein - een plaats die sinds 2003 een gemeentelijke culturele bestemming heeft - behoren tot de verborgen cultuurschatten van Asse. Assenaar Thierry De Clippele maakte er in 1983 een dikke licentiaatsverhandeling over, waarvan de archeologische kring Agilas in 2006 een synthese publiceerde in haar jaarboek. Lees verder op

Der Fachverband des Deutschen Fliesengewerbes gab 1996 das Buch "Die Geschichte der Fliese" in der Verlagsgesellschaft Rudolf Müller heraus. Auf Anregung des Fachverbandes des Deutschen Fliesengewerbes und mit Unterstützung seiner Mitgliedsbetriebe konnte das Buch mit 381 Farbabbildungen realisiert werden.

Taxation days - In het Nederlands Tegelmuseum in Otterlo worden de komende maanden 3 taxatiemiddagen gehouden voor aardewerk en tegels. Geregeld wordt het museum benaderd met de vraag of het mogelijk is om antieke tegels of aardewerk te laten taxeren. Het museum is wel gespecialiseerd in het beschrijven van keramische objecten, maar in het bepalen van de waarde zijn de medewerkers niet gespecialiseerd. Daar ligt ook niet de taak van een museum.
Het is daarom verheugend dat in het kader van het 40-jarig bestaan van de Vrienden van het Nederlands Tegelmuseum de heer Ger J.M. de Ree, taxateur bij het programma Schatgraven van TV Gelderland, in het Nederlands Tegelmuseum te Otterlo aanwezig zal zijn om uw aardewerk en tegels te taxeren. De taxatie is gratis. U betaalt slechts de entree voor het museum.

SOS Azulejo project - Portuguese historic and artistic tiles stand out in the world cultural heritage for their invaluable richness in quality, quantity, style, materials and techniques.

Because Polícia Judiciária (PJ) has the exclusive competence for crimes related to works of art and cultural goods and the number of thefts of historic tiles has risen significantly since the nineties, the PJ decided to implement a crime prevention project against theft, traffic and vandalism of Portuguese historic and artistic tiles and launch a campaign for the protection and conservation of this cultural heritage. Museu Nacional do Azulejo shows, until July 20, in Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo Art Gallery, an Exhibition very representative of its Tiles, Three-dimensional Ceramic and Tile projects collections, amounting to 136 pieces.The Exhibition has the production of Associação Espírito Santo Cultura, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, and museographic plan of prestigious Brazilian architect Haron Cohen.
The Collections of Lisbon Museu Nacional do Azulejo exhibit, through tile panels, drawings and three-dimensional ceramic pieces, more than five centuries of Portuguese culture and a great part of Portugal History.
Effectively, the longevity of tile use is a constant of the art and the mentality of Portugal, where it gained a special importance, constituting itself as a differentiating element of Portuguese culture in the universal context of artistic creation. Since the first great orders, in King D. Manuel I (1469-1521) epoch, till nowadays, tile can be seen as a documental source for studying the evolution of the country’s social, economic and cultural structures. Its use spread to Brazil, country where still remain applied some of the most important examples of Portuguese tiles, namely from the first half of 18th century.
By organising the present Exhibition in S. Paulo, Museu Nacional do Azulejo aims contributing to the valorisation, preservation and divulgation of a patrimony that, although being a referential expression of Portuguese culture it is also shared by Brazilian culture and, for that reason, a factor of union between the two countries.

Fortement influencés au début par les œuvres similaires des Pays Bas et des ateliers céramiques toscans, surtout de Montelupo, leurs décorations sont ensuite devenues plus indépendantes, s'inspirant plutôt de gravures d'origine locale.
