Book COURANJOU, Jean - Les carreaux de faïence importés pour le revêtement décoratif architectural de la Régence turque d'Alger (1518-1830), précédé de Traité des assemblages. 410 pages, format 21x29cm, illustrated with 76 b&w hand-drawn pictures; includes a catalogue of 44 pages depicting 340 b&w hand-drawn models, panels and series described in the book, 37 pages of colour ill. Under the turkish regency period of Algeria (1518-1830) no tiles were manufactured localy, but large quantities were imported from different countries over a period of almost three centuries, for decoration of their monuments, mainly in the town of Algiers. Mr. Couranjou studied the subject over 35 years and will publish his study as soon as sufficient buyers have communicated their intention of buying, ca. € 50,-. No orders or money at this time. Museum The former stoneware tile factory of Gréber at Beauvais (1911) has been fitted up as "Ecomusée des pays de l'Oise" (Oise Living Museum). This factory, covered with beautiful tiles, totally restorated and recently recognised as an historic monument, is a good example of reuse of industrial buildings. 17 rue du Pré-Martinet, 60000 Beauvais.

Museum Musée Henri Dupuis, 9 rue Henri Dupuis, 62500 Saint-Omer. "La cuisine flamande" (the flemish kitchen). The walls and the chimney of the kitchen are covered with Dutch tiles and tiles made in the northern part of France (Lille, Desvres). Several tile pictures depict saints, animals, a fruit-basket, a turkish soldier and a scissors-grinder based on a painting of David Teniers. Book ANDRÉ, Patrick - Les pavements médiévaux du château de Suscinio, 60 pages, 80 colour ill., edited by the Conseil Général du Morbihan. A complete presentation of the pavements, inlaid and tin glazed floor tiles, dated mid-XIVth c. Discovered in 1975 during escavations in the chapel of the castel of the dukes of Brittany in Morbihan. Annual meeting The "Vrienden van Het Nederlands Tegelmuseum" (Friends of the Dutch Tile Museum) have their annual meeting on Saturday 28 September, 2002 at 10.00 am in Gouda. Several lectures in Dutch on Gouda tiles and maiolica; in the afternoon a visit of the above mentioned exhibition on Gouda tiles and maiolica.

Internet Forum "Internet forum on the study and the conservation of decorated ceramics in architecture." The purpose of this forum is to trigger a debate at the highest level between specialists in the different subject areas involved in the conservation and restoration of decorated architectural ceramics, in an attempt to cover the broadest possible geographic and cultural field. The forum is divided into five working modules, each of which will focus on one particular area of the general theme of decorated architectural ceramics. The five modules are: 1) The theory and practice of architectural intervention in the field of decorated ceramics, 2) The process of deterioration, pathalogies and analysis, 3) The history of architectural ceramics, training and dissemination, 4) Restoration techniques and processes, 5) Documentation and the siting of unusual architectural cases.
