Our Polish tile friend Piotr Oczko has been appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau during a surprise ceremony in Cracow. Dutch Ambassador Daphne Bergsma presented him with the Order’s insignia for his contributions to the study of Dutch art, culture and literature, and the promotion of Dutch cultural heritage, including tiles, in Poland.

The house were Victor Hugo stayed between 1855 and 1870 in exile. Thanks to the royalties of his books he could embellish his house. This includes a large chimney with tiles.
