*Artistic Project – tiGels; een project rond tegels van kunstenaar Johan Lingier
Dit project is in mei 2012 opgestart en maakt gebruik van verschillende media. In een eerste fase worden mensen opgeroepen om oude tegelvloeren die ze in huis hebben te laten fotograferen. Dit materiaal wordt gearchiveerd en vormt de voedingsbodem voor de rest van het project. Men kan de voortgang van dit project volgen in de pers en op de blog van de kunstenaar.

In mei 2007 werden de 38 majolica-tableautegels uit de collectie van Museum Plantin-Moretus teruggevonden. Tot dan had Antwerpen het moeten stellen met een signalement en zwart-wit afbeeldingen die dateren uit 1945. Samen met tegels uit enkele andere collecties, zowel in binnenland als buitenland, zijn vandaag 58 tegels van dit type gekend. Dit is dan ook een ideale gelegenheid om deze meesterwerken van de Antwerpse majolicanijverheid via een inventarisstudie onder de aandacht te brengen.

Onderhoud van tegelvloeren van keramiek en cement is het onderwerp van deze brochure, die aansluit bij vorige brochures over het onderhoud van natuursteenvloeren (2007) en houten vloeren (2008). * Museum collection – Abdijmuseum Koksijde - De tegelcollectie blijkt veel groter dan aangenomen. De afgelopen drie jaar werden niet minder dan tienduizend tegels volgens de regels van de kunst gedocumenteerd. Een huzarenstuk dat begin november 2012 werd afgerond. * Research Project – AzTek (Conservation of historic glazed ceramic tiles) is a research project of the strategic Planned Research Program of Laboratorio Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC). Started in 2009 it was established for a renewable period of four years and is organised along four main lines: characterization of azulejos; study of decay; assessment of the performance of restoration products and techniques; development of new diagnostic and conservation techniques.
Dit onderzoeksproject van LNEC, onder leiding van João Mimoso,richt zich op het behoud van historische betegelingen. Het gaat hierbij om materiaalonderzoek (samenstelling scherf, glazuren, mortels, hechting) en de vraag welke factoren bepalen dat een tegel in de wand beschadigd raakt, en hoe dit vermeden kan worden.
*Exhibition - "Da Flandres. Os azulejos encomendados por D. Teodósio I, 5th Duque de Bragança (c.1510-1563)” – “From Flanders. The Azulejos commissioned by D. Teodosio I, 5th Duke of Braganza (c. 1510-1563). This temporary exhibition on the famous 16th century Flemish tiles of the Vila Viçosa starts on 23.10.2012 and runs until 28.02.2013 in the Museu Nacional do Azulejo, Rua da Madre de Deus, 4, 1900-312 Lisboa. From 8.04.2013 onwards this exhibition is also to be seen at the Paço Ducal de Vila Viçosa. A bilingual catalogue accompanies this event.

This tiled kitchen was used as the first prototype within the ARtSENSE project on augmented reality for museum use that was released and publicly presented on 25. January 2012 during the SIMESITEM conference held at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. The sub scene Lady and Servant from the Valencian Kitchen was used to demonstrate basic features of the system, including: artwork recognition, user position estimation, acoustic monitoring, complex event processing, gesture recognition, AR overlay, and acoustic information.

* Master thesis - Carla Aubin Sotelo, Cuerda Seca Ceramic Tiles: Explorations of Resist Formulas in Various Firing Ranges. A Thesis Presented to the Faculty of the School of Architecture University of Southern California in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree Master of Historic Preservation, May 2012, 85 p., 48 ill.
In the 1920s and 1930s, residential and commercial buildings built in the popular Spanish and Moorish inspired designs throughout California were decorated with interior and exterior installations of cuerda seca art tiles. Decades later, replacement of damaged tile schemes forms a large part of the conservation and preservation ethic. The goal of this thesis was replication of the cuerda seca resist using various proprietary formulas.
