The first account of the ‘industrial’ manufacture of medieval floor tiles at Tyler’s Green, Penn in Buckinghamshire, the most prolific of all the medieval tile manufactories; with details of the kilns that have only just been unearthed. L'engouement pour ce type de décor fut tel qu'il fut utilisé pour les plates tombes, particulièrement en Normandie qui, avec l'Angleterre, était une terre de production des pavages. Les décors céramiques, important domaine du répertoire gothique, se sont bien entendu inspirés des styles déjà existants comme ceux des manuscrits.
